WSP seeking witnesses to I-5 vehicular assault in Renton

RENTON, WA – Authorities are looking for witnesses to an accident that occurred Thursday night in which a red Kia Forte lost control and slammed into a Seattle Police Department Bomb Unit truck.

The accident occurred just before midnight on Thursday, Aug. 20, when the 2010 red Kia Forte crashed into the guardrail of northbound I-5 just north of South 200th St. The Kia ended up in the HOV lane, where a Seattle Police Department Bomb Unit truck was headed northbound and crashed into the Kia, according to KOMO. The Bomb Unit truck was responding to an unrelated active call.

The driver and three passengers in the Kia were transported to Harborview Medical Center. One Seattle police officer was treated for minor injuries. Authorities believe the driver of the Kia was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
