Semi-truck loses control, crashes into Wenatchee River near Leavenworth

LEAVENWORTH, WA – The driver of a semi-truck was driving too fast for the icy and slick road conditions on US 2, causing them to lose control and crash head-first into the Wenatchee River on Thursday.

Washington State Trooper John Bryant reported via Twitter that the trailer of the truck was empty and the driver was not injured. The semi-truck was driving west on US 2 when it lost control and crashed down an embankment into the river.

Bryant said the highway may need to be temporarily closed in both directions while crews remove the truck from the river.
