Kennewick man killed during suspected DUI crash in Benton County
Request Free ConsultationPATERSON, WA (BENTON COUNTY) – A man is thought to have been driving while intoxicated during a wrong-way crash in Benton County late Thursday which claimed the life of a Kennewick man.
According to KOMO News, the crash occurred on State Route 14 near Paterson just before midnight, when 42-year-old Jesus Chavez went over the center line and into the path of oncoming traffic.
Chavez collided with another vehicle, leading to the death of Kennewick man Manuel Guajardo, 68, at the scene.
Chavez was taken to the hospital for the treatment of undisclosed injuries.
Washington State Police believe that he was under the influence of alcohol or drugs when the accident happened. Charges have not yet been filed.
