Woman dies following pedestrian accident in Yakima

YAKIMA, WA — A 27-year-old woman has died days after being struck by a vehicle in a Yakima crosswalk on Monday, according to Newstalk KIT.

Police say that she succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday at Harborview Medical Center. The victim’s name has not been officially released.

Authorities say the woman had been crossing Tieton Drive at North 40th Avenue when the eastbound vehicle hit her at a slow speed while turning right onto 40th Avenue. The driver of the vehicle appears to not have seen the woman in the crosswalk.

The driver will not be facing any serious charges but will likely be cited for negligent driving or failure to yield the right of way to a pedestrian, according to Captain Jay Seely.
