MAPLE VALLEY, WA — A 15-year-old girl was due to make her first court appearance Friday after turning herself in for a Maple Valley hit-and-run back in July, reports KOMO News.

A 53-year-old man was jogging in the 23800 block of Southeast 216th Street in the early morning of July 18 before he was fatally struck by the teen driver.

During the span of their investigation, detectives were able to piece together evidence to identify the suspect vehicle, which led them to its recovery on Tuesday. After processing the vehicle, authorities were able to identify the suspect.

The teenager was expected to face a judge Friday afternoon in a preliminary hearing held at the King County Child and Family Justice Center. Her identity is being withheld at this time due to her age.
