Four seriously hurt after teen driver crashes car near Suquamish

KITSAP COUNTY, WA — Four passengers were hospitalized Saturday after a teen driver suspected of being drunk crashed her car near Suquamish, reports Kitsap Daily News.

Kitsap County sheriff deputies and area fire crews responded to the scene in the 2000 block of Columbia Street NE near Robin Lane NE.

Authorities learned a 2007 Hyundai Elantra was going south on Columbia Street at high speed when it failed to negotiate a curve and lost control. The car flipped into a ditch on the other side of the road.

A man and a woman suffered life-threatening injuries and were flown to Seattle’s Harborivew Medical Center.

Two others, a man and a woman, were taken to St. Michael’s Medical Center in Silverdale with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials said the 18-year-old driver displayed signs of intoxication. Deputies processed the young woman for suspected impairment and were able to get a warrant for a blood sample.

After being evaluated at St. Michael’s Medical Center for minor injuries, she was taken into custody at the county jail for investigation into four counts of vehicular assault.
