Man killed in I-5 collision with stopped semi near south Tacoma
Request Free ConsultationPIERCE COUNTY, WA — A man died Wednesday morning after his pickup truck collided with a stopped tractor trailer on Interstate 5 near south Tacoma, reports KIRO 7 News.
The crash happened on the southbound interstate near the Joint Base Lewis-McChord main gate at about 6:40 a.m.
According to Washington State Patrol, the man was driving a pickup in the left southbound lane when, for reasons still being investigated, the vehicle drifted across all lanes of traffic before colliding with the semi’s trailer on the right shoulder. The pickup then hit a third vehicle before coming to a stop.
The driver of the pickup was pronounced deceased at the scene, confirmed authorities.
The event left two right lanes blocked, but by 10:50 a.m., all lanes were reopened.
No other information has been released on a possible cause of the crash.
