Eatonville, Washington – Fire Engine Damaged in Hit-and-Run

Eatonville, Washington (August 31, 2019) – A fire engine belonging to South Pierce Fire and Rescue was damaged in a hit and run on Meridian East and Ski Park Road East on Saturday morning. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.

According to the report, crews were on the scene of a car crash around 1:50 a.m. The fire engine had its light and sirens on. Despite this, a gray pickup truck was seen crossing the lane that the engine was parked in, sideswiping the vehicle and causing damage. The damaged engine was put out of service, and crews were put on a reserved engine. The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office is currently looking for more information on the incident.

In rollover collisions, the car will come to rest on its side or roof, resulting in a dangerous situation which passengers might need to be extricated from. In side collisions, the greatest risk comes to the passenger on the particular side that received the impact. No matter the type of accident, all crashes are bound to cause a dreadful situation for all involved.
