Spokane, Washington – Suspected DUI Driver Crashes Into Pole at Five Mile Road

Spokane, Washington (January 19, 2020) – A car crashed into a power pole on the intersection of West Five Mile Road and North Ash Street on early Saturday morning. According to the report from The Spokesman-Review, a woman identified as Victoria Brown was found in the vehicle with a  small bump on her head. She was reported to show signs of intoxication and claimed to be the driver, which officers determined to be a lie. Brown’s husband, Shane Brown, was contacted and found to have been walking away from the scene. He was also found to have a bump on his forehead and intoxicated, and denied to be the driver of the car, but officers found his hair embedded in the cracked glass of the vehicle’s windshield. Three children were also found unharmed inside the vehicle, but they were still taken to a hospital for evaluation, and were later placed in the custody of Child Protective Services. The couple were booked into the Spokane County Jail, with Victoria Brown receiving a charge of making false statements, and Shane Brown charged with suspicion of felony hit-and-run, DUI, and three counts of reckless endangerment.

In 2017, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT)  have reported a total of 120, 993 car accidents. Of those accidents, 525 were fatal ad 34, 311 were possible or suspected of injuries.
