SEATTLE, WA — A driver sustained injuries in a crash along I-90 in Seattle Monday night caused by a suspected thrown rock, according to KIRO 7 News Staff.

Troopers with the Washington State Patrol said the driver was traveling eastbound in a black Dodge Challenger near Rainier Avenue South around 11:00 p.m. when the vehicle was struck by a rock at the 23rd Avenue South overpass.

This initial incident appears to have caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle as it struck the barrier before coming to rest in the HOV lane.

The driver suffered facial injuries that police believe were a direct result of the rock. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center where his condition is currently undisclosed.

The car’s windshield was reported to be completely shattered, and the body of the car sustained significant damage.

Troopers are actively investigating whether or not the object was intentionally thrown.
