Hwy 20, closed since June 10 due to rockslide, to reopen next month
Request Free ConsultationROCKPORT, WA – A rockslide shut down a portion of Highway 20 near milepost 98, but crews expect to finish their hillside restoration and reopen the highway by early August.
According to Go Skagit, crews have been inserting rock dowels—long metal rods—into the hillside. Crews will then attach large metal plates onto the rods to hold boulders in place to prevent future slides.
The slide that occurred on June 10 dropped 1,000 cubic yards of debris onto the highway, forcing all lanes to close. Luckily, no one was injured in the slide.
