Impaired driver crashes into trench near workers in Puyallup

PIERCE COUNTY, WA — A driver suspected of DUI ran into a construction zone in Puyallup Monday.

According to KIRO 7 News, the vehicle traveled across construction zone barriers before its front wheels crashed into the trench and became stuck.

Investigators say three workers had exited the trench mere seconds before the vehicle dove in.

A breathalyzer test taken at the scene indicated the driver had been operating the vehicle with more than four times the legal blood alcohol limit.

The precise location of the crash is unavailable at this time. It is unclear if anyone was injured as a result.
