Pedestrian fatally struck by BNSF freight train in Marysville

MARYSVILLE, WA – A man was fatally struck by a BNSF freight train in Marysville yesterday morning, according to the Marysville Police Department.

The crash occurred in the 9100 block of State Avenue at about 11:30 a.m., when a victim, described as a man in his early 30’s, was struck by an oncoming train.

The operators of the train made an attempt to avoid a collision, but were unable to stop the train in the time.

The victim died at the scene.

Traffic near the scene was diverted for multiple hours as authorities worked the crash. They continue to investigate the accident at this time.
