Request Free ConsultationKING COUNTY, WA — Six people were hospitalized Thursday night after a multi–vehicle wreck in Renton caused by a dump truck, reports KIRO 7 News.
The incident occurred on 140th Avenue Southeast near Maple Valley Highway shortly before 7:44 p.m.
According to authorities, a man was driving a dump truck south down a hill on 140th Avenue when he lost control of the truck as it collided with two vehicles and a Metro bus, which hit a number of other vehicles.
First responders arrived to find the truck driver unconscious but breathing after having been ejected onto the middle of the road. Officers believe he had not been wearing a seat belt.
He and five other victims were transported to local hospitals with various injuries, with his being the most serious.
A stretch of the highway between eastbound I-405 and westbound 149th Avenue was closed during the response but reopened by 10:30 p.m.
Authorities said a preliminary investigation indicates a mechanical failure in the dump truck caused the crash.
