Woman critically injured after apartment in Laurelhurst area explodes

SEATTLE, WA – A woman was seriously hurt when an apartment in the Laurelhurst area caught fire on Friday afternoon, according to KOMO News.

The incident took place at an apartment complex in the 5000 block of NE Mithun Place at about 4:30 p.m., when an explosion occurred in one of the units.

A woman was taken to Harborview Medical with life-threatening, critical injuries. Her identity was not immediately released.

No other units were damaged in the fire.

The cause of the explosion remains under investigation at this time.
